Our friendly kaiako foster a sense of belonging, trust, and understanding, ensuring that every child feels valued and included. We promote positive language and encourage happy children, building strong relationships and emotional well-being.

We understand the demands of modern life, our flexible hours accommodate busy schedules, while our dietitian-approved menu ‘Nourish’ ensures our tamariki receive nutritious and delicious food. prepared fresh each day by our Centre Cook. This programme encourages healthy choices and teaches tamariki to care for their bodies.

To enhance our tamariki’s learning experiences we provide opportunities to walk within our local community and enjoy visits to the playing fields at the YMCA, making purchases from the shops, or reading at the library. Following our children’s interests, we arrange trips from time to time to places to extend their knowledge of the world, such as the zoo, farms, or museums. We welcome participation from our whānau to support these excursions.

We celebrate the diversity of our community and value the richness of home languages. Here at Busy Bees Westgate, we provide opportunities for children to learn and appreciate various languages, promoting cultural understanding and open-mindedness. We believe that learning should be fun and exciting. Through events, parent participation, and a positive atmosphere, we create a joyful environment where children feel confident and eager to explore.

Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes, based on the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award for Early Learning Centres. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fueled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.

Our Rooms

Our Fern room (Ages 0 - 1 Years) is based on building loving and trusting bonds, our kaiako work closely with families to understand infant cues and develop a routine that supports children’s natural rhythms. When tamariki are ready to progress, they will head into the Nikau room (Ages 1-2 Years), and utilise sensory play, outdoor exploration, music, and movement to create a fun, interactive atmosphere whilst maintaining a focus on the love and care that infants need to thrive.

The Kowhai and Manuka rooms (Ages 2 - 3 Years) are uniquely designed for our tamariki to have space to explore, as they balance their growing independence whilst still being nurtured and cared for. Our kaiako love to encourage each child’s autonomy to unfold and their emerging personality to blossom.

Our Pohutukawa room (3 - 4 Years) supports the tamariki with social and emotional competence at a time when they are ready to engage in meaningful play with others. The Kauri room (4-5 Years) is where tamariki start to become more aware of their upcoming transition to school, our resources are reflective of the medium's children will be using at school. Kaiako observe and converse with children to develop projects based on their interests.
